Yesterday's Kitchen Day

The middle two boys and I worked on pureeing basil for the freezer and preparing tarragon, basil, rosemary, and mint for the dehydrator.

I had planned on making pistou, but I felt too lazy about cutting up the garlic. Instead I decided to puree the basil in the food processor with some olive oil for softening the basil.

Next I froze the basil/olive oil in one ice cube tray. These will be perfect for dropping into tomato sauce or as part of a basil sauce for orzo.

For dehydrating we have a Nesco Gardenmaster Dehydrator. My helper and I cut the herbs in our garden, he rinsed them, and then he spread them on the trays for me.
